In saying this, this is a hybrid role where the successful applicant will only be required to go into the office 1-2 days a week. As a Principal Engineer, you will perform the role of process lead supporting others.

As a Principal Engineer, you will perform the role of process lead so, the successful applicant must have a desire to help and assist others engineers. The successful applicant will assist in producing process engineering design but, will also be responsible of checking process deliverables.

Due to growth and project awards, our client is now looking to recruit a Process Safety Manager/Director to lead their current department as well as overseeing and managing growth within the process safety field. This is a hybrid role working from home whilst also travelling to client sites and meetings when needed.  

We are looking for someone with an engineering degree and post university experience demonstrating a track record in the following key types of studies:

• DSEAR Risk Assessment and Hazardous Area Classification studies, covering liquids, gases and dusts
• Hazard Studies including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA
• Occupied Buildings Risk Assessments (OBRA) and consequence modelling
• ALARP Studies
• Advising and being involved with inherent safety in design or chemical and industrial processes

Due business growth and and incoming projects, our client is looking to recruit an OHL Designer Engineer for UK operations. With our client having various offices across the UK, they are happy for the successful individual to be based in any UK location within a hybrid capacity. 

The candidate should have experience in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with the new build or refurbishment of overhead line projects from 11kV – 400kV. You will also have experience in design of OHL with PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed OHL design packages, compliant to required client and national technical standards.
• Prepare calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation.
• Undertake FEED stage projects, including production of technical reports and presentations.
• Maintain compliance to CDM Regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements associated with the nature of substation/P&C and electrical system design.
• Manage the delivery of projects in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.
• Overall OHL design with PLS-CADD in accordance with BS-EN 50341.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in HV OHL engineering design in the electricity transmission & distribution sector
• Thorough understanding of current Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.

Our client delivers expertise across a range of different projects, these include interconnector and renewables schemes, including nuclear and solar power, offshore and onshore wind power generation and transmission, high (HV), extra high voltage (EHV) and distribution projects. Due business growth and and incoming projects, our client is looking to recruit a Senior Substations Engineer for UK operations. With our client having various offices across the UK, they are happy for the successful individual to be based in any UK location within a hybrid capacity.

The candidate must have experience (depending on role) in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with new or modification of EHV projects from 11kV – 400kV covering primary design, secondary design and protection & control. This will cover the production of Substation primary layouts, primary equipment specifications, equipment rating calculations, busbar short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, production of material specification lists, fault calculations, P&C wiring diagrams, protection requirements and system modelling. You must also have a reasonable level of maths and science, preferably from a power engineering background and have good communication skills. In this role, you will manage the production through a robust checking process but must also develop drawing office standards, mentor and train the CAD technicians and when work dictates support the actual delivery of the outputs.

• Minimum BEng/Bsc in Electrical Engineering
• The candidate shall be proficient in the technical requirements of Primary Design 

Desirable

• Be or working toward CEng status
• Ideally working toward TP137 / TP141 authorisation by National Grid
• It is desirable that the candidate be proficient in Secondary and P&C Design as identified in the Job Description although not essential

• On occasion, manage E,C&I Engineering involvement in small to medium-size projects, including time, cost, quality and client relationship management and delivery.

Requirements

• Experience of both concept / front end design, and detailed design.
• Experience of designing electrical supplies for process equipment including fixed and variable speed drives, and intelligent MCC systems.

• Lead and actively participate in Hazard Identification reviews, Process Safety reviews, and Functional Safety assessments, ensuring robust safety protocols.
