Job Description

CEN Resources are working in partnership with a very successful and growing multi-disciplinary engineering business based in the central belt of Scotland. Our client offers both consultancy and project delivery services within disciplines such as Process, Process Safety, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation on a variety of onshore engineering projects. Due to growth and project awards, our client is now looking to recruit a Process Safety Manager/Director to lead their current department as well as overseeing and managing growth within the process safety field. This is a hybrid role working from home whilst also travelling to client sites and meetings when needed.

We are looking for someone with an engineering degree and post university experience demonstrating a track record in the following key types of studies:

  • DSEAR Risk Assessment and Hazardous Area Classification studies, covering liquids, gases and dusts
  • Hazard Studies including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA
  • Occupied Buildings Risk Assessments (OBRA) and consequence modelling
  • ALARP Studies
  • Advising and being involved with inherent safety in design or chemical and industrial processes

As well as the technical experience in these key studies, as a member of the leadership team, our client is also looking for someone with the following attributes:-

  • The ability to strategically drive growth with other disciplines
  • The ability to lead and motivate a growing team and help drive projects to completion, while multi-tasking lots of challenging activities.
  • The ability to work as part of a wider multi-discipline team on projects, while taking responsibility for the process safety deliverables.
  • The ability to learn new skills and areas of work.  As the tasks we are asked to do change on a day to day basis, we aren’t stuck to working on only our core activities, so the ability and desire to learn new skills is a must.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset; we welcome ingenuity, innovation and people with direction.  If you have a passion for a certain type of work which fits our business model, we will support it.

Although much of the work is home-based, you must be willing to travel. On a very busy week, you may be required to be on client sites 2-3 days a week. Due to the current client base being predominantly based across the central belt of Scotland, it would be beneficial that the successful applicant lived within this region.
