With our client having various offices across the UK, they are happy for the successful individual to be based in any UK location within a hybrid capacity. 

The candidate should have experience in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with the new build or refurbishment of overhead line projects from 11kV – 400kV. You will also have experience in design of OHL with PLS-CADD and PLS-Tower.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed OHL design packages, compliant to required client and national technical standards.
• Prepare calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation.
• Undertake FEED stage projects, including production of technical reports and presentations.
• Maintain compliance to CDM Regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements associated with the nature of substation/P&C and electrical system design.
• Manage the delivery of projects in accordance with Management Systems to meet time, quality, budgetary and health and safety targets.
• Overall OHL design with PLS-CADD in accordance with BS-EN 50341.

Skills & Experience

• Experience in HV OHL engineering design in the electricity transmission & distribution sector
• Thorough understanding of current Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.

The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, analysing, and optimising electrical distribution systems to ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and optimise electrical distribution networks ranging from 400V to 33kV, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for proposed distribution projects.
• Collaborate with other disciplines including project managers, project  engineers, and DNO’s to ensure successful project execution.
• Perform load flow analysis, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit studies.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to distribution network design.

Requirements

• Minimum (with relevant work experience) in Electrical Engineering, with Power / HV background
• Ideally MEng / Msc in Electrical Engineering, with Power / HV background
• Working toward CEng status is seen as beneficial, however not essential

Once settled in, this role only requires the relevant person to be in the office once a week with the rest of time being spent working from home.

We are looking for an experienced Piping Team Leader to take responsibility for technically directing the piping team to produce piping deliverables in accordance with industry standards, codes and client specifications, within the project schedule and budget.

In addition to the technical lead role they will also be involved in the development and growth of the process piping team, provide input in bids & tenders, managing sub-contractors and developing processes and systems relating to this new capability.

As a Principal Engineer, you will perform the role of process lead so, the successful applicant must have a desire to help and assist others engineers. The successful applicant will assist in producing process engineering design but, will also be responsible of checking process deliverables.

The candidate must have experience (depending on role) in the production of all designs, calculations, reports & drawings associated with new or modification of EHV projects from 11kV – 400kV covering primary design, secondary design and protection & control. This will cover the production of Substation primary layouts, primary equipment specifications, equipment rating calculations, busbar short circuit force calculations, earthing studies, impressed voltage calculations, production of material specification lists, fault calculations, P&C wiring diagrams, protection requirements and system modelling. You must also have a reasonable level of maths and science, preferably from a power engineering background and have good communication skills. In this role, you will manage the production through a robust checking process but must also develop drawing office standards, mentor and train the CAD technicians and when work dictates support the actual delivery of the outputs.

Duties

• Develop E,C&I engineering deliverables to support the delivery of capital projects in the nuclear sector
• Understand and implement the technical integration of engineering deliverables with all relevant regulatory requirements.
• On occasion, manage E,C&I Engineering involvement in small to medium-size projects, including time, cost, quality and client relationship management and delivery.
• Champion quality and compliance controls within local teams and project

Requirements

• Experience of both concept / front end design, and detailed design.
• Experience of designing electrical supplies for process equipment including fixed and variable speed drives, and intelligent MCC systems.
